Book a job across several days

Book the same hours over a run of days, and see what you will get before you commit.

Overview

A job that runs 8am to 4pm from Monday to Wednesday is one trip through the Create Booking dialog, not three. Set the days and the dialog shows you exactly which bookings it is about to make before you click Create.

Three ways in:

  • Right-click the job in the jobs list and choose Create Booking.
  • Double-click the job in the jobs list.
  • Click + in the calendar toolbar to open it with no job chosen, then search for one.

The dialog opens on today, one day long, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Step by step: book Monday to Wednesday
  1. Right-click the job and choose Create Booking.
  2. Set the Start date and time.
  3. Type 3 into Days. The End date moves to match.
  4. Check the weekday buttons under on - M T W T F are on and the weekend is off by default.
  5. Read the preview line. It names the days and hours, and how many bookings that makes.
  6. Pick people under Select staff and anything you need under Select equipment.
  7. Click Create.

One booking is created per selected day, per person and per piece of equipment - so three days with two staff and one vehicle is nine bookings, which is what the preview tells you before you click.

Days, dates and weekdays stay in step

Start, End, Days and the weekday buttons are four views of one decision, and whichever you touch last wins:

  • Change Start or Days, or turn a weekday on or off, and the End date moves.
  • Change the End date and Days recounts.

Days counts booked days, not calendar days. Three days from a Thursday with the weekend off ends on the Monday.

The -1 and +1 buttons beside each date step it by one calendar day. Stepping Start carries the end date with it; stepping End changes how long the booking runs.

Weekends

Weekends are off by default, which is what most jobs want. Tap S or S to turn one on for a job that does run at the weekend.

If you pick a Saturday start while Saturday is off, Tradie turns it on for you and says so in the preview - a one-off weekend job works without touching the buttons at all. Move the start back to a weekday and it turns itself off again.

The weekday buttons reset to Monday-Friday every time the dialog opens, so last month’s Sunday job never books you a surprise.

The preview line

The line under the dates is also where problems are reported. It will tell you if the end date is before the start, if the end time is before the start time, if the date range holds no ticked weekdays at all, or if you still need to choose a job.
