Block someone's access
Sign a team member out everywhere and wipe this company's data from their devices.
Blocking removes somebody’s access to your company straight away. They are signed out of every device they are logged in on, this company’s data is erased from those devices, and they cannot log in again until you unblock them. Their record stays, along with their timesheets, bookings and history - which is what makes this the right move when someone leaves in a hurry, loses a phone, or you simply want them out now and sorted out later.
Block someone
Step by step
- Open the hamburger menu and click Users.
- Click the pencil icon on the person’s row to open Edit User.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Block user.
- Tick Also remove them from the Scheduler if you want their row off the calendar too.
- Type a Reason if you want one recorded. It is optional.
- Click Yes.
If you ticked the Scheduler box and they have work booked, Tradie tells you how many bookings and over what dates, and asks you to confirm again.
What happens next
Their devices stop working for your company within seconds. The app erases this company’s data - including any work they had not yet sent in - and returns them to the sign-in screen. A Scheduler left open on the calendar clears itself the same way.
Back on the Users list, their row is greyed out with a Blocked tag. Opening their record shows a red banner saying who blocked them and when, plus the reason if one was given.
What blocking does not do
- It does not delete anything. Their timesheets, worklogs, bookings, forms and history all stay exactly where they are.
- It does not remove their bookings. Existing work stays on the calendar unless you ticked the Scheduler box, which only hides it from view.
- It does not affect other companies. Somebody who works for more than one business in Tradie keeps their access to the others.
Unblocking
Open their record and click Unblock user. They can log in again the next time they try, and their app downloads a fresh copy of everything.
One thing does not come back on its own: if you removed them from the Scheduler, they stay off it until you tick Show on Scheduler on their record. That is deliberate - whether somebody belongs back on the calendar is your call, not a side effect of restoring a login.
You cannot block your own login, and you cannot block the main administrator account. Blocking yourself would sign you out of the machine you were doing it from, with no way back if you are the only admin.
Blocking or deleting
Deleting a user does everything blocking does - the sign-out and the device wipe are the same - and then removes the account as well. The difference is what survives.
| Block | Delete | |
|---|---|---|
| Signed out everywhere, devices wiped | Yes | Yes |
| Can log in again | After you unblock them | No |
| Their record | Kept | Removed |
| Who did it and when | Recorded on their record | Recorded, and kept after the account goes |
| Their timesheets and job history | Kept | Kept |
Block when somebody might come back, or when you want the account there to look at later. Delete when they are gone for good. Clicking delete offers you blocking instead, so it is hard to reach for the permanent one by accident.
