Job type colours

Give each job type a colour, so the calendar shows what kind of work a job is.

Overview

Your jobs already carry a job type in your accounting system - a service call, an installation, a delivery. Give each type a colour and the Scheduler draws it as a stripe along the bottom of every job tile and every booking, so you can see what kind of work a day is made of without opening anything.

Where you see itThe Scheduler’s job lists (Pending, Progress, Admin) and every booking on the calendar

Turning it on

In Settings → Scheduler Settings, tick Colour jobs by job type. It is off unless you turn it on, so nothing changes for a company that does not want it.

The Job Type Colours entry then appears in the hamburger menu under Jobs & Scheduling, beside Job statuses. Untick the setting and the entry goes away again, along with the stripes - the colours you chose are kept, so turning it back on restores them.

Choosing the colours

Each row is one job type: its name, its code from your accounting system, and a colour box.

Step by step: colour a job type
  1. Click the colour box on the row.
  2. Pick one of the sixteen one-click colours, or More colours… for the full picker.
  3. That is the save. There is no Save button - a colour is stored the moment you choose it, and anyone else with the Scheduler open sees it without reloading.
  4. Clear takes the colour off that type again.

A type you leave alone stays as it always looked. You do not have to colour all of them - colouring only the two or three that matter is usually easier to read than a rainbow.

What it looks like

The colour is a stripe along the bottom of the job tile or booking, deliberately out of the way of the colour that is already there:

  • Job status colour - the tile’s indicator and the booking’s background - is unchanged.
  • Job type colour is the new stripe underneath it.

The two sit side by side on purpose, so you can read what state the job is in and what kind of job it is at the same time. See Job statuses for the other half of that pairing.

Note

On Infusion Elite a job’s type comes through as its branch code. Jobs that were already cached before this feature arrived may not carry one, and those are drawn without a stripe until they next refresh - the colours themselves are fine, there is simply nothing yet to match them to.
