Troubleshooting & common issues
Fixes for forms that do not appear, will not save, or print differently than expected.
Most problems come down to three things: the form’s Availability, a required question, or the difference between the phone and the printed report. The previews answer most of them before anyone in the field does.
The form does not appear on the phone
- Availability is not set. Open the form, click Availability, tick where it should appear, and Save.
- It is restricted to job types the job does not have. Check Restrict to Job Types.
- A user role excludes the person. Check User roles in Availability.
- The phone has not refreshed. Ask them to reopen the app, or the job.
The phone will not save the form
- A mandatory field is empty. The phone says which one. Untick Is Mandatory field if it should not be required.
- A number is out of range. The phone says Please enter a value between the limits. Check Minimum Value and Maximum Value on the field.
Save to job cannot be ticked
The form needs a Job Fields field, or to be placed on a job tab, so it knows which job to save to.
The report looks different from the phone
They are laid out differently by design: the phone shows one question after another, the report follows each section’s Display on report as. Use Report Preview to see the real PDF, and the Output view to adjust the layout.
- A field is missing from the report - check Hide field in report output, and for Read Only Text and Display Image, Display in report.
- A question shows on the report but not the phone - check Hide field on form.
- A heading is missing - check Display Heading On Report on the section, or Hide heading in report output on the field.
A follow-up question never appears
Check the child field’s Show this field condition matches the parent’s answers exactly, and test it in Mobile Preview. See child fields.
You cannot find a field type
The palette has 16 field types, plus Quote Fields and Company Fields on a quote layout. Dropdowns, radio buttons and multi-select tick boxes are all Multiple Choice. Photos are Image Upload. There is no general file upload.
Changes have disappeared
Nothing is kept until you click Save Form. The Unsaved changes note at the top shows when there is work to save.
