Overview
Numeric Input collects a number. You can give it a minimum and maximum, a unit to print after it, or show it as a dollar amount. Numbers can also feed a Formula.
Step by step: add a number field
- Select the section it belongs in.
- Click Numeric Input under + Add Fields.
- Type the question in Heading.
- Set Minimum Value and Maximum Value if answers outside a range are mistakes.
- Tick Has Suffix and enter a Suffix such as “mm” or “kPa” if it has a unit.
Its own settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Has Suffix / Suffix | A unit printed after the number, such as “m” or “°C” |
| Is dollar value | Shows and prints it as money |
| Constant value | A fixed number the technician does not enter - for a rate or factor used in a formula. Leave blank for a normal question |
| Minimum Value / Maximum Value | The allowed range. Hidden when a constant is set |
It also has the settings most fields share.
On the phone
The phone shows a number box. With a maximum set, the heading shows it - for example “Pressure - Max: 600”. An answer outside the range shows Please enter a value between the limits, and the form will not save until it is fixed.
Working out a value
To total, multiply or otherwise combine numbers, add a Formula that reads them. A Constant value field is a handy way to hold a rate the formula uses, without asking anyone for it.
